2 December 2009 - New transport rights on the way

New laws which will apply aspects of the Disability Discrimination Act to transport services are to be introduced in Northern Ireland in the New Year.  The Equality Commission has responsibility for the promotion and enforcement of the new rights here.

The Commission has now developed a section on their website to explain what the new rights are.  This can be viewed via the following link:

http://www.equalityni.org/sections/default.asp?cms=Service%20Providers_Transport_duties&cmsid=130_724_725&id=725&secid=4

A promotional campaign will begin shortly to let both disabled people and transport providers know about the changes.  As part of this campaign the Commission is organising the following training sessions across Northern Ireland in January.

Wednesday, 13 January 2010 Londonderry
