14 December 2009 - Baywatch results published

The results of the 3rd Baywatch Parking Survey in Northern Ireland have been published today.  Nearly 100 volunteers undertook parking surveys in car parks across the North in May.  Once again this years survey highlighted the unacceptable level of abuse of accessible parking bays by non-disabled people with nearly one in every four bays reported as having cars parked without displaying a Blue Badge.  The survey highlighted particular problems at hospitals and facilities such leisure centres but there was some feedback that the major retailers are doing more to tackle abuse.

The Baywatch Campaign in Northern Ireland would like to say a big thanks to everyone who helped with the survey.  We will use the results to highlight the diffculties parking abuse causes for disabled people and seek to work with service providers to ensure they do more to prevent misuse of bays.

Copies of the survey report are available from the Baywatch Section of this website.  Hard copies and copies in alternative formats are available by contacting Michael Lorimer at Imtac.
