9 October 2007 Clampdown on Blue Badge abuse

Imtac has welcomed the announcement today that NCP on behalf of Roads Service will be targeting misuse of the Blue Badge.  People found to be using the Badge incorrectly are likely to receive a Penalty Charge Notice, repeat offenders may have their badges taken away.  We believe that the initiative will make it easier for all genuine Blue Badge holders to park in and around our towns.

Examples of misuse of the Blue Badge include non-disabled people using the Badge to gain the benefits of parking concessions, not displaying the badge properly (always display it with the wheelchair user symbol visible not your photograph), parking for over 3 hours on a double or single yellow line and parking somewhere that is not safe to do so.

Imtac has some simple advice for Badge Holders to ensure they can park trouble free:

Roads Service issues a Guide for Blue Badge holders.  If you would like a copy please contact us.
