24 April 2008 - Proposed changes to Blue Badge

Roads Service here have published a consultation highlighting a number of important proposed changes to the Blue Badge Scheme here.  The changes include allowing the Badge to be issued to children under the age of two in some circumstances, allowing the Badge to be issued for a period of less than 3 years if appropriate, ammending eligibility for people with upper limb disabilities, intoducing a hologram onto badges to make them more difficult to copy and revising the wording on Badges to include advice on how to display it in the proper manner.

Imtac welcomes the proposed changes which bring the scheme here in line with Great Britain.  The Committee wants to encourage individuals and organisations with an interest in the Blue Badge Scheme to give their views during the consultation which closes on the 6th June 2008.
