People who are deaf or hard of hearing can now contact your local community transport operator using Typetalk. There are currently 18 community transport partnerships offering a range of services in rural areas of Northern Ireland. Details of the partnerships are available on the following website www.communitytransport-ni.com. Typetalk can also be used to contact the Community Transport Association.
Typetalk is a system that enables textphone users to communicate using ordinary phone lines via an operator. Textphone users dial direct using the prefix18001 before the number of the person they wish to speak to. A Typetalk operator joins the line to relay the conversation.
