Imtac is holding a half day workshop to debate and discuss vehicle accessiblity for flexible and demand responsive transport services. The workshop will be held on the 23rd March 2009 in Grosvenor House, Glengall Street, Belfast from 10.30am to 1pm.
Over the past few year physical accessibility to mainstream public transport has improved remarkably in Northern Ireland. Despite this many disabled people and older people find these services difficult to access and rely on other more flexible services such as door2door, taxis or rural community transport. A variety of vehicles are used to deliver these services including minibuses and ordinary cars.
With an ageing and rural society the demand for more flexible services is likely to grow. The purpose of the workshop is to look at how vehicles can adapt to meet this demand. The workshop will look at passenger requirement, what vehicles are currently used and what potentially could be provided in the future.
The workshop is of interest to to users of services, operators of these services, people who make transport policy and vehicle manufacturers.
To register for the workshop please contact Michael Lorimer at the Imtac offices.
